Celebrating 3 years! 🥳

Hi there! 👋

This week I’m celebrating 3 years of business!

A few weeks ago, I was chatting with my friend and former life coach, Rachelle Indra, about my business. During that conversation, she reminded me of the time I wanted to walk away from physical therapy and my business.

When I worked with Rachelle, I was about a year into business and I was at a point where I didn’t know how I wanted the business to grow, I didn’t have a clue what success meant for me, and I was questioning if physical therapy was even the profession I wanted to continue in.

When I looked around, I saw colleagues who were growing their practices and hiring staff physical therapists. I was no where near that level and the thought I had about my practice not being fully booked was that it was failing…which I made mean “I’m a failure.”

When it came to how I was marketing my practice, I was feeling so much resistance.

In the physical therapy world, there’s a big emphasis on specializing in a particular patient population, injury type, or part of the body. I thought the only way to be have a successful practice was to promote and add to my specializations.

But when I showed up from the space of “here’s my expertise and specializations,” it didn’t feel authentic or aligned.

It felt clinical and cold.

The problem was, I was constantly looking outside of myself for how to show up and for what the goal “should” be.

At some point in my journey, I realized I needed to stop looking outside of myself.

I needed to tap into my authenticity and inner wisdom.

So, I went back to my why and what I wanted to create in my practice…

  • A safer space for folks to come for physical therapy

  • A place where folks would feel welcome + heard, where they had time devoted to them, their treatment + care, and their healing

  • A space where they could learn about their body and movement

  • A collaborative environment where we work together to co-create and progress their treatment plan

I deepened into my self-growth journey, stepped into coaching certification programs, and began to see the impact of holding space for the whole person (physical + emotional) who walks through the doors.

As I’ve embraced my authentic way of practicing (or as my mentor would say, my own magic and medicine) in physical therapy and now in coaching, it’s brought a sense of grounding, calm, and joy in knowing that I’m where I’m meant to be.

I’m so proud of myself for sticking with it, for doing the work to look inward to explore how I want to be + how I want show up in my business and practice, and learning to ride the waves of this great experiment that I’m confident will continue to evolve with time.

And, it’s thanks to you that my business is still here!

So much thanks to you for your…

  • Trust in me in working together whether that’s been through physical therapy or coaching

  • Referrals of friends, family, coworkers…these referrals truly mean the world to me!

  • Time + allowing me to take up space in your inbox

  • Engagement in replying to these emails and/or through social media

I’m deeply grateful for you.

If you’d like to do your own exploring, here are a few questions for contemplation…

  • Where in my life am I looking outside of myself?

  • To look to myself and trust my inner wisdom means…

  • People who look to themselves and trust their inner wisdom are…

  • If I trusted my inner wisdom, what might open up for me?

  • What comes up for you as you reflect on those answers?

With so much gratitude,

Bre
