Rooting Down and Grounding into Your Foundation
In this post, I explore how mind-body connection and becoming aware of your body in space helps you find your foundational posture. By rooting down and remaining a curious mindset, you’ll find the options of postures that work for you, your body, and your unique needs is limitless.
Embracing Transformation
Today, I’m celebrating becoming a Certified Wholehearted Life Coach!
And, I’m sharing a bit of my story, my journey as a physical therapist, business owner, and what lead me to become a Life Coach.
From my heart ❤️
I’ve been sitting with the heaviness of the ongoing events of the world feeling a mix of emotions - overwhelmed, heartbroken, disheartened, questioning, examining the privileges I hold and wondering, what can I do to make a difference?
In this moment, I can show up with kindness, care, compassion. and prioritize heart-lead interactions, which I sense we could all use a little more of in our lives.
If you’re looking for a space to be held in all of your humanity, please know that I’m here for you.
Celebrating 3 years! 🥳
This week I’m celebrating 3 years of business! 🥳🎂
A few weeks ago, I was chatting with my friend and former life coach, Rachelle Indra, about my business. During that conversation, she reminded me of the time I wanted to walk away from physical therapy and my business.
When I worked with Rachelle, I was about a year into business and I was at a point where I didn’t know how I wanted the business to grow, I didn’t have a clue what success meant for me, and I was questioning if physical therapy was even the profession I wanted to continue in.
Reconnecting to myself + community
The tears came, seemingly, out of nowhere. The truth is, they’ve been there, unshed, for some time.
I’ve been feeling drawn to step back into a movement space with others and have contemplated so many different options…martial arts, yoga, pilates, group fitness classes. And, while all of them are wonderful options, I wasn’t compelled to go to any of them.
Then, last night, an opportunity presented itself. A networking event and Conscious Movement and Dance experience hosted by Lynne Herbert of Soul In Motion.
And, let me tell you, I had some reservations.
Perfectionistic, people pleaser, imposter parts
Over the last few weeks as I’ve started talking more about coaching and having conversations with folks who are coaching curious, I’ve had some self-doubt and interesting thoughts pop up…
Who do you think you are to offer coaching? You don’t have enough experience.
Why can’t you be happy with things as they are? You’ve invested so much into building your physical therapy practice the past 3 years, can’t that be enough.
As someone with perfectionistic, worrier, people pleasing parts, it’s been challenging at times to be in the midst of doing my own work around these thoughts and still show up to put this offering out into the world.
Celebrating 🥂
This past weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. We did it in style this year…leftovers with fresh veg from the garden! 😂
In all seriousness, we are homebodies at heart and both enjoy cooking, so, while it wasn’t fancy, it was perfectly suited to us.
Over the last 12 years, we’ve adventured, learned how to travel together, learned (and are still learning 🙋🏻♀️) how to ask for what we need, fought, grown, grieved, laughed, loved, been contented.
Summer Update 🌱
Summer Update 🌱
I can’t believe we’re in the 2nd week of August already. Where has the summer gone!? (and, why do I feel like I have this thought every August? 🤣)
What have you been enjoying most about your summer season?
For me this year, it’s been the fresh produce from our garden and the wildflowers. We’ve been enjoying loads of raspberries, leafy greens, and colorful flowers for weeks and the summer squash and tomatoes are just now starting ripen.
Pain Science 201
Welcome to Pain Science 201 - Persistent Pain.
Sometimes when we heal from an injury, our nerves remain sensitive, continuing to fire at a higher level than they were prior to injury. What happens in this case is that it takes less input into our system to have our nerves activated and generate a danger signal.
Pain Science 101
Imagine this…
You get out of bed in the morning. You’re groggy and definitely not awake yet. And, you stub your toe, hard, on the bed frame.
You have immediate pain (and maybe a few choice words 🤬) and limp around for a bit. After a few minutes, the pain has mostly gone away and you carry on with your day.
So, what happened here that resulted in pain?
